Installation Guides

Install your Viafigo eSIM with the right guide for your device.

The Viafigo order email includes a PDF with your QR code and manual activation details. Use the matching guide below for iPhone, iPad, Google Pixel, or Samsung Galaxy devices.

iOS

iPhone and iPad

Covers iOS 17 and later, iOS 16, and iOS 15 or earlier with both QR and manual installation paths.

Before you begin

Open the Viafigo order email and keep the attached PDF ready before you begin.

Use a stable Wi-Fi connection during installation.

Install before departure so the eSIM line is ready when you land.

Do not delete the eSIM after installation unless Viafigo support tells you to.

After installation

Turn on the Viafigo eSIM line after installation.

Set Data Roaming to On for the Viafigo line.

If your device asks for an APN, use wbdata.

Keep your primary SIM as the default for voice and SMS if you still need that number while travelling.

Apple devices

iOS 17 and later

Use these steps for recent iPhone and iPad models running iOS 17 or newer.

QR

Install with QR code

This is the fastest path when the device camera can scan the QR code from your Viafigo PDF.

  1. 1

    Open Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data > Add eSIM.

  2. 2

    Choose Use QR Code, then scan the QR code from the Viafigo PDF.

  3. 3

    Tap Continue when iPhone recognises the mobile plan and wait for the eSIM to be added.

  4. 4

    Rename the line so it is easy to identify during the trip.

  5. 5

    When iPhone asks about Default Line, Apple ID, FaceTime, and iMessage, keep your primary number as default unless you specifically want to switch.

  6. 6

    Set Cellular Data to the Viafigo eSIM when you want travel data to come from that line.

Important notes

Some iPhones show extra prompts for Primary, Secondary, Apple ID, FaceTime, and iMessage. Those prompts are expected.

Turn on Allow Cellular Data Switching only if you intentionally want iPhone to move between lines.

Manual

Install manually

Use manual entry if the QR code does not scan or you are installing from another screen.

  1. 1

    Open Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data > Add eSIM.

  2. 2

    Choose Use QR Code, then tap Enter Details Manually.

  3. 3

    Enter the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code exactly as shown in the Viafigo PDF.

  4. 4

    Tap Next and wait while iPhone adds the eSIM profile.

  5. 5

    Rename the line and review the prompts for Default Line, Apple ID, FaceTime, iMessage, and Cellular Data.

  6. 6

    Keep your normal number as the default for calls and texts unless your trip setup requires otherwise.

Important notes

Copy the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code carefully. A missing character will cause activation to fail.

Apple devices

iOS 16

For devices on iOS 16, the menus are similar but the prompts are slightly simpler.

QR

Install with QR code

Use QR installation when the PDF is available on another screen or printed copy.

  1. 1

    Open Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data > Add eSIM.

  2. 2

    Choose Use QR Code and scan the QR code from the Viafigo PDF.

  3. 3

    Tap Continue to confirm the new mobile plan.

  4. 4

    Label the line clearly so you can recognise it later.

  5. 5

    Select the Viafigo line for Cellular Data when you are ready to use travel data.

Important notes

If the device cannot scan the code from the same phone screen, open the PDF on another device or use the manual path instead.

Manual

Install manually

Manual activation is the fallback when QR scanning is not practical.

  1. 1

    Open Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data > Add eSIM.

  2. 2

    Choose Use QR Code, then tap Enter Details Manually.

  3. 3

    Enter the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code from the Viafigo PDF.

  4. 4

    Tap Next and wait while the eSIM is prepared.

  5. 5

    Label the line and assign Cellular Data to the Viafigo eSIM when you want to use it.

Important notes

Stay connected to Wi-Fi until the installation finishes completely.

Apple devices

iOS 15 and earlier

Older iPhone flows are slightly more compact but still support both QR and manual activation.

QR

Install with QR code

Choose this path if your older iPhone supports eSIM and can scan the QR code.

    Open Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data > Add Cellular Plan.

  2. 2

    Scan the QR code from the Viafigo PDF.

  3. 3

    Tap Add Cellular Plan and wait for the eSIM to be installed.

  4. 4

    Rename the line and keep your normal SIM as default for voice unless you need a different setup.

  5. 5

    Switch Cellular Data to the Viafigo line when you want travel data to come from that plan.

Manual

Install manually

Manual entry still works if scanning is unavailable.

  1. 1

    Open Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data > Add Cellular Plan.

  2. 2

    Tap Enter Details Manually.

  3. 3

    Type the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code exactly as shown in the Viafigo PDF.

  4. 4

    Confirm the new cellular plan and wait for the installation to complete.

  5. 5

    Label the line and keep the settings ready for arrival.

Android devices

Google Pixel

Pixel menus vary by Android version. Both menu paths from the Viafigo PDF are covered below.

QRGoogle Pixel

Install with QR code

Use this if your Pixel can scan the QR code from the Viafigo PDF.

  1. 1

    Open Settings, then go to either Network & internet > SIMs > Add SIM, or Mobile network > + / Manage eSIM depending on your Pixel model.

  2. 2

    Choose Download a SIM instead? or Add eSIM, then select Next.

  3. 3

    Scan the QR code from your Viafigo PDF.

  4. 4

    Confirm the new eSIM profile and wait while Android finishes the download.

  5. 5

    Turn the Viafigo eSIM on once installation completes.

Important notes

If the menu on your Pixel does not match exactly, search Settings for eSIM and follow the closest matching result.

ManualGoogle Pixel

Install manually

Use this path when the camera cannot scan the QR code.

  1. 1

    Open the Pixel eSIM flow through Settings > Network & internet > SIMs > Add SIM or the Mobile network > Manage eSIM path shown on your device.

  2. 2

    Choose Need help? or Enter it manually when the QR scanner appears.

  3. 3

    Paste or type the manual activation string from the PDF. On Pixel this often appears in the format LPA:1$SM-DP+ Address$Activation Code.

  4. 4

    Confirm the new eSIM and wait for Android to finish installing it.

  5. 5

    Turn the Viafigo eSIM on and leave your primary SIM active for voice if needed.

Important notes

Pixel manual entry normally uses the full combined LPA string instead of separate fields.

Android devices

Samsung Galaxy

Samsung devices use SIM Manager for both QR and manual activation.

QRSamsung Galaxy

Install with QR code

Use the QR path if the PDF is available on another screen.

    Open Settings > Connections > SIM manager.

  2. 2

    Tap Add mobile plan or Add eSIM.

  3. 3

    Choose Scan carrier QR code.

  4. 4

    Scan the QR code from your Viafigo PDF and confirm the new plan.

  5. 5

    Wait for Samsung to install the eSIM, then switch the line on.

Important notes

If Samsung asks whether the line should stay on for mobile data, you can leave your primary line for calls and switch data later.

ManualSamsung Galaxy

Install manually

Use manual activation if Samsung cannot scan the QR code.

  1. 1

    Open Settings > Connections > SIM manager.

  2. 2

    Tap Add mobile plan or Add eSIM.

  3. 3

    Choose Enter activation code or enter details manually when prompted.

  4. 4

    Type the activation details from the Viafigo PDF.

  5. 5

    Confirm the installation and wait for Samsung to add the eSIM profile.

  6. 6

    Turn the eSIM on and keep the data settings ready for travel.
